The Radiologic Technology Certificate program at PCC prepares you to work as a Radiologic Technologist in the medical field. Upon completion of the program you will be eligible to take the the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Examination (ARRT) and pursue a Radiologic Technology License in the state of California.

Radiologic technologists are the medical personnel who perform diagnostic imaging examinations and administer radiation therapy treatments. To be work in the field, you need knowledge and training in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety, radiation protection and basic patient care.

1. Prepare clinically competent entry-level Radiologic Technologists. 

            Student Learning Outcomes

a)       Students will be able to perform routine radiographic images

b)      Students will possess knowledge of radiographic procedures and patient care

c)       Students will employ radiation protection to patients, themselves, and others

d)      Students will use ethical practices in health care delivery

2. Students will effectively communicate with patients and coworkers.

b)      Students will be able to demonstrate good communication skills through class presentations

3.  Train Radiologic Technology Students who use demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills to perform job related functions.

a)       Students will assess patients’ condition and make appropriate modifications to the procedures based on their conditions and age group

b)      Students will evaluate radiographic images for density, brightness, contrast, and recorded detail and be able make appropriate changes when necessary

4.  Produce Radiologic Technologists who will grow, develop, and become members of professional organizations that foster career growth.

b)      Students will demonstrate professionalism with patients, self, and others

The Radiologic Technology Program will evaluate and monitor program effectiveness through the measurement of graduate success rates, job placement rates, annual program completion rates, and graduate and employer satisfaction surveys and will make available to the public the annual results of the ARRT pass rate, job placement and program completion through the website and shared with the communities of interest.


The Pasadena City College Radiologic Technology Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The program has an 8-year accreditation.  The PCC Radiologic Technology Program will have a JRCERT site visit in 2022.  Pasadena City College is regionally accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.  Effectiveness data is available on the Pasadena City College, Radiologic Technology Program website & JRCERT website.
